Myofascial Trigger Points and Headaches
A myofascial trigger point is a tender ‘bump’ in the muscle that is most commonly detected by hand. For patients with migraine and tension-type headaches, TrPs are commonly found at the base of the skull, neck, and upper back. Chiropractors commonly perform manual techniques to the upper neck region and train their headache patients in identifying and self-managing TrPs located in the upper neck muscles.
