Chiropractic Techniques

Dr Woodward has been trained in 8 chiropractic adjustment techniques to accommodate a large variety of patient needs. Typically the doctor uses the following:

Diversified Method–This is the most widely used form of manipulation in the chiropractic field. It combines the best of other ‘hands-on’ techniques and generally results in a popping sound as the chiropractor releases built up pressure from the joint.

Activator Method–This technique utilizes a spring-loaded instrument with tension control to give consistent low-force chiropractic adjustments. It is a very versatile method well tolerated by children, elderly, or those uncomfortable with ‘popping’ sounds. It is also most appropriate for acute, post traumatic, or patients with osteoporosis.

Flexion/ Distraction Method— also known as the Cox method, the focus is on reducing pressure on the discs between each vertebrae by using a mechanized table that tractions the patient. This is very useful for patients with mild to moderate disc herniations, bulges, degenerative disc disease, and scoliosis.

Extremity Adjusting— this method is applied to the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist & hand, hip, knee, ankle & foot, TMJ, and rib issues. It can be low force or moderate force depending on the need and the size of the patient and joint.

Also used according to our patient’s preferences or needs:
Thompson, Gonstead, Upper Cervical, SOT, and Applied Kinesiology.
